Artin Avaznia is an Iranian-Canadian solo dance artist, choreographer, and creative director based in Toronto. Known for fusing cinematic visuals with live performance, he is recognized for pioneering a  model that pushes for dancers to be recognized as fully autonomous artist, who can headline and be the main event dance.

He gained national attention after being recognized by pop icon Janet Jackson and appearing on CTV’s etalk in 2022. The following year, he became the first solo dance artist to perform at Fierté Montreal and Pride Toronto. By 2024, He quickly checked off other major venues across the country, such as Toronto’s TD Music Hall and Montreal’s Olympic Stadium.

While redefining the role of a dancer, Avaznia has also positioned himself as a cultural leader and a community advocate. In 2024, Avaznia founded Underground Pride - a night life event celebrating queer culture and its impact on pop culture at- large. He transformed the event from a grassroots Toronto event into a multi-city platform, consistently selling out venues across Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa.

In summer of 2026, Artin Avaznia expanded his reach with a national tour alongside Underground Pride, bringing his high-energy performances to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, before closing in his homtown of Ottawa. 

At the centre of it, Avaznia served not only as the founder and creative director but as a headlining performer. The tour saw Underground Pride move into venues of up to 400 capacity across multiple cities, with Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa completely selling out, while new partnerships with Iceberg Vodka, Vitaly, Bacardi, and Trusti joined continued relationships with Red Bull Canada and HVO Vodka.

The tour culminated in a particularly significant homecoming: in August 2026, seven years after leaving his hometown, Artin brought Underground Pride to Ottawa which included his first hometown performance since 2019. The return became a cultural homecoming, earning the front page of the Ottawa Citizen, national digital distribution through Yahoo Canada, coverage from Apt613, and a feature from CBC Arts.
